- There is one God who is eternally three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “There are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one” (1 John 5:7).
- The sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired and, therefore, inerrant word of God. “All Scripture is given by inspiration from God” (2 Tim. 3:16). The Bible is the final standard for our faith and life, and we must not add to nor take away from the word of God (Deut. 4:2, Prov. 30:6, Rev. 22:18-19). The New Testament has been preserved in the textual tradition of the Textus Receptus/Majority Text.
- God is the creator and sustainer of the universe. “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them” (Ex. 20:11a).
- Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross in our place, and rose up again victorious over sin and Satan. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. “God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Tim. 3:16); “the Word became flesh” (John 1:14).
- Every person by nature is in bondage to sin and separated from God (Rom. 3:23). To be saved and go to heaven, a person must be born again. “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again’” (John 3:7). The only way to be be born again is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:7). “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9).
- Water baptism is important for each believer in Jesus. Water baptism is an outward symbol of an inward spiritual change, and it is only effective after someone is born again. “‘What hinders me from being baptized?’ Then Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And he answered and said, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’” (Acts 8:36b-37).
- Each believer receives the Holy Spirit when he is born again. A believer is baptized in the Holy Spirit when he is filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time (Acts 2:4). Holy Spirit baptism empowers Christians to serve Jesus effectively (Luke 24:49).
- The spiritual gifts listed in the New Testament are operative today (1 Cor. 12:4-11; 14:1; Rom. 12:6-8). Each believer has at least one spiritual gift (1 Pet. 4:10).
- Religious traditions not found in the New Testament create vain worship. “In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matt. 15:9).
- For Christians to fulfill their potential in God, they must be part of a Biblical church (Heb. 10:25).
- The laying on of hands is an essential ministry of the church (Heb. 6:1-2).
- We meet in homes because this is where the church met in the New Testament (Rom. 16:5; 1 Cor. 16:9; Col. 4:15; Philemon 2). Some important church functions can best happen within a home environment (1 Cor. 14:26; Acts 2:46).
- Each church should be led by a body of elders who fulfill Scriptural requirements (1 Tim 3:1-7, Tit. 1:5-9). All church leadership positions in the New Testament are operative today (Eph. 4:11). The role of church leadership is to disciple each believer into maturity, so that each one can minister and the body of Christ can grow (Eph. 4:12).
- Sharing meals regularly and partaking of the Lord’s Supper frequently in church helps produce strong fellowship and disciples (Acts 2:46; 20:7).
- Each person will be judged by Jesus Christ at the end of the age. After this, they will go into either heaven or hell forever (Matt. 25:46; Dan. 12:2).
